Biteable

In class we were trying out a new tool called Biteable. Biteable is a site where you can make videos and other stuff. my Biteable is a acrostic poem about respect called respect for others. This was really fun using a new tool because usually we just use the same google drawing or slides but this was more fun and different.

Wk 9 synthesis work

for our reading work we had to make a controller for the game dart but your fighting underwater against aliens. We had to do this because our story was about a kid who was good are darts and thought of it as just a game.

WK 8 Synthesis work

In class for our reading task we had to make an illustration about a story that we have wrote. I made a picture from my character description about spongebob. it is not that good but it is decent.

Come to our Market day!

At St Bernadette's on the 6th of November at 2pm we are going to have a market day.

In our class we are selling all sorts of things. we are selling spiders (fizzy with ice cream), waffles with all sorts of things on them, paper briquettes, also guessing how many lollies is in a jar and last of all throwing wet sponges at kiwi can leaders. So for this market day we made posters and I am here to show you mine. My one is about the spiders. but on other peoples blogs in my class they might have different posters unless they were in my group for this work.

Christmas acrostic poem

In class we have been learning about all different kinds of writing this year. So every week we have to choose a different piece of writing and write about it. This week I chose a poem. And for my poem I did an acrostic poem about christmas.

Christmas day is a day where we celebrate Jesus’ birthday.

Helping us also on christmas day  Is the extraordinary santa with all of his presents.

Riding on our new bikes and playing all the new toys.

I  personally think that christmas makes everyone spoiled. 

So everyone loves christmas but some people forget that christmas is all because of Jesus and not Santa.

This christmas though I am going to not just think about the presents.

Most of my family think about how it is Jesus’ birthday so I think I will get a good reminder to remember Jesus on this day

As always it still would be fun to still get a present. 

So what I am trying to say in this acrostic poem is to remember that it is Jesus’ birthday and don’t get annoyed if you don’t get any presents.

 

Dung beetle (last post)

In class  didn't get to finishing my work so I did it this week because I finished my work this week and yeah here it is. But it is a information web about what helps dung beetles survive.

The real story of Hansel & Gretel

In our school the seniors (us) got to go on a trip to the national ballet stuff. we watched Hansel and Gretel but only the second act because it was to long. After that we had to make the true story of Hansel & Gretel. This means that we could make our own version of Hansel & Gretel. Here is mine


The true story of Hansel & Gretel
 There was once two little annoying and dumb kids. Their names were Hansel & Gretel. They lived in a poor family so you would think they would be really nice and grateful but NO not these kids. They liked to eat all the food before anyone could cook it or they would go and annoy their parents for no reason. This got them in big trouble because after all the stuff that they did they would get hidings and smacks. 


 But one night they decided to take
 all the food and run into the forest while leaving bread crumbs to find their way back. This wasn't smart though because instead of going home and looking at the reaction of their parents they were found lost with no food. While walking around they stumble across a houses with a witch in it (still in disguise).

 As the two siblings walk in the witch jumps out of nowhere telling them to eat up. They went to a couple of chairs and then some gingerbread man came out. But what the witch planned did not work instead of her gingerbread man feeding them normal food they ate the gingerbread man. As more and more marched out they get devoured every single time. Hansel shouts out to Gretel “This is a feast”. 

 As the witch sighs she runs at Hansel but Hansel grabs a candy cane off the wall and dodges. While the witch gets up Hansel gives her a big spanking SMACK she was out cold. It was so hard that it made an earthquake.

 Hansel and Gretel ran out of there and turtled straight away. While the earthquake stopped the two kids came out of there turtle possien. 

 Even though it took them super long they picked the house up and found their way back home (it took them 1 year). But when they got home they had changed. They were way nicer and more considerate of the food even though they had a whole house made out of it. 

But the witches mum came with her daughter and knocked on the door. Gretel opened the door and ran and got her parents and Hansel. Hansel and Gretel were scared so they walked behind their parents and as they got to the door the witches mum gave them a big smack on their bum. So hard that there was a red mark on it and you could hear it from kilometers away. And of course the little girl witch got a spanking as well and all of them had to say sorry.

 Then after that Hansel and Gretel were rivals with the witch. The witch would send gingerbread men at them everyday and the two kids would keep on killing the witch over and over. And of course they always got a good spanking after that.

 But the mama witch had enough of reviving her daughter so she stopped and she killed Hansel and Gretel so then they could fight somewhere else while the mama witch went and destroyed countless towns and while the parents adopted new kids and became rich and ate ice cream and other treats all day.

WK 7 synthesis work

In class we finished doing the dung beetles stuff so now we are back to the synthesis work. This one was about making a trap for an animal called the stag without killing it because in our story the boys dream of becoming a hunter but when they killed the stag his hopes died. I enjoyed this because I got to draw all of the different stuff. My trap is about the walls closing in on anything that goes in and leaves food and water.

SLJ practice activity

In our class we had to put down 3 facts as a practice run for the summer learning journey.

Fact 1:Did you know that there is a thing in new zealand called a waka. A waka is a big wooden boat that a lot of people need to use paddles to get around in it.

Fact 2: In New Zealand January and February are the hottest months in the year

Fact 3: There is a myth in New Zealand that Maui pulled up the north island And it was a fish.

Dung Beetles(post 2)

Today for my second blog post I had to make a Dung beetle into a super beetle that can take all the poo and survive. I took this and I made something cool and when you look at it you will laugh and then think it is a bit ugly. This was my creating task that I did and there is one more that I have to post.

Dung beetles (post 1)

In class we have been learning about dung beetles. Dung beetles are the whole reason that the earth is not covered in poo because they eat it.

In our task though we have to make a slide or a doc and we have to do 3 or more posts about our tasks. this one is my first one and it is about how they get there dung. (there are 3 ways they get there dung but I have done just one).

Narrative writing

Is class we have just started learning again about Narrative writing. We had to write a story about anything with some rules. Then we had to check with each other if it was good and give feedback.

The rules:
Language features (idiom metaphor etc)
Use paragraphs 
Your character has to speak 

Dingo and the explosion 

 As I the almighty Dingo the Dino looked up from my food a face of fear popped onto my face as I screamed out
 “Ahh”.
 she screamed as she saw the meteor flew right at her. Jimi the Jinzhousaurus was running up to everyone saying 
 “the end is here”. 

 I ran around looking for a shelter that would protect me from the gigantic burning rock. Then I looked at a cave and thought to myself that if I go in deep enough I will and barricade the entrance I might just stand a chance. When I started to barricade it slowly got darker and darker until there was just a little hole With a missing rock. 

 As I looked out I saw that the meteor was about to hit. So I plugged the missing hole and ran down as far as I could. While I was about half way down I heard a Thundering BOOM and CRASH.

 I went up the cave slowly and took the little rock out and looked out there. No one was there. I went and unplugged the entrance I looked around. It was like a wasteland out here. I sobbed and screamed out 
 “Why did this happen”. 
 I walked around looking for anyone. I finally found some water and drank some. I was so sad that I just feel into the water not caring at all. But when I got up I saw something in the distance. I ran and to my surprise it was a human and he was all alone. So I go up to him, he smiles at me and say 
 “Hi”
 “Hi” 
I say back The human freaks me out he then asks for my name, I say 
“Dingo the dino”. 
As we talk, we get to know each other and I found out that his name was jackson. So we go and live together until we are really old and we die.

Week 5 synthesis work

IN class we had to do our weekly synthesis work. This basically is our blog post for reading. In our synthesis task we hadx to make something that would clear out mountains for airstrips and a easier way to get building supplies up mountains. We had to do this task because we read an article about Sir Edmund Hillary and what he did. One of the things that he did was help make schools and hospitals and all of that helpful stuff. But they had to wait ages for the supplies because people were going by foot. so this machine makes it easier.

Weekly synthesis work

In class we had to do our weekly blog post on something. I did this on making a bunker for surviving lava. While doing this I had to think of what to put in their how I would want to set it up and I set it up really weirdly.

Spongebob descriptive writing

In class we first started our descriptive writing with being in buddies and write about anyone that we wanted to. Me and my buddie choose spongebob. In this story we had to add types of speech like similes or personification and more.






 He is as yellow as the sun. It's The Yellow Sponge That can squeeze all the way down and also has mini pits in him. He is a Magical Sponge that can’t get hurt. His Signature is the unbelievable SPONGEBOB DUN DUN DUHHHH!!!!! 

Spongebob is a crack up sponge Just like a comedian. His finest friends are patrick and squidward but squidward is always going BLAH BLAH BLAH. He works at the Krusty krab in Bikini Bottom. And of course no one can forget the almighty gary the snail. He is also outstanding at making Krabby patties.

 He is Dazzling yellow. Where's a Magnificent suit and a Foolproof tie. Also always has his Unique Spatula, and he also wears black Glossy shoes that are magical. He is also very short and square Shaped. He wears the same clothes every single day.

 SpongeBob has a little pickle with Plankton Because he annoys Spongebob for the Unknown Formula. He also sometimes has a predicament with the flying dutchman who is a ghost pirate and also king neptune who is the emperor of the ocean and shoots lasers with his trident that go BANG!!!. 

In conclusion spongebob is an insane magical sponge who lives in a pineapple under the sea. He is also a horrible civilon in Bikini Bottom but makes the Supreme Krabby Patties to make up for it. He is a Sponge that squeezes and splashes everywhere.

Flower competition

In our class we were making flowers for a flower competition. This is for like the environment. In class for our nature thing we are doing printmaking. Also It was really cool seeing how everyone else's went.

Descriptive writing

In class we have been going over descriptive writing  and so we had to describe these things in this slide show but I haven't finished it yet so there will be some slides blank.

WK3 Synthesis work

In class for our weekly reading task we had to pick a question from the synthesis. I picked one were I had to make a scary as flying fox.

Traditions and culture

In class for IL we have been learning about taonga. Of course your culture and tradition can be taonga so we made a DLO about the stuff. We had to include our flower, our flag and a tradition that we do. This was really cool because we went home after school and we asked our parents if we had any traditions and I did.

In class we did our weekly information web and it was kind of hard because there wasn't that much that I could put down so yeah

Bottle rockets

WALT share what we have learnt with Whanau.

At school for Il we were looking and acids and bases. Then we did some experiments with these acids and bases. After we had to pick one to show at the celebration of learning which is a day were we show our family and friends what we have been doing in IL. we did a bottle rocket.
What I enjoyed: watching the rocket go up. Because I didn't think it was going to go as high as it went and because I didn't think it would work at all. 
what I could work on:Puting just enough tissue in so that it wouldn't just sit there and do nothing it would actually go up in the sky.  
What was hard: making it actually fly. This was because you had to make the cork not hit the ground but still be in the bottle or again puting just enough Tissue.

Taonga Poster

In class for topic we are learning about Taonga. We had to make a Poster about all the taonga that we have (treasure to us). 

I put my flag because I love my country and proud of who I am.

I put the earth because it is so cool what is on this earth and how peaceful it is.

I put music because it is really calming. 

and the family and heart because they are all really loving and nice.

and technology because I can't live without it.

And my dog because he is gangster and fun.  

W1 information web

In class we had to make our weekly information web. Our story is about a kid in the holidays applying to be a zookeeper for a day. This was the first time in ages doing an information web so it was a bit hard.

Stephen, Paul and Peter

In R.E we have been looking at Jesus' disciples. When we did this we had to use animaker and write about 3 people. I choose Stephen, Paul and Peter. I enjoyed this because we got to learn about not just the main disciples but some of the others.

In class we looked at my Animaker and I had to tweak the littlest thing and that was to make it go slower but it does still go a bit faster because I put it on the slowest the video can go but it is still fast. This is not perfect I am just saying this is not perfect, I have only used this site a couple times so don't think that I made amazing and perfect because it aint.

What's at the bottom of the sea

In reading for our infographic we had to do it on what's at the bottom of the sea. We have do to one of these every week or a story map. This was Really fun seeing all the fish but a bit scary.

What I enjoyed: Looking at all the fish
What was hard: understanding the sentence
What I need to improve: More information

The climber

In room 5 we have been learning about the five senses in writing and going back to descriptive writing. We had a prompt and we had to write a descriptive piece of writing but for every paragraph we had to use the 5 senses. See if you can find them 

What was hard: using the 5 senses because I haven't used them in ages. 
What was easy: Being a bit descriptive. 
What I need to work on: Linking in to every paragraph


  We were finally there. We looked around at the huge town and nourishing forests. My friend sat there and had a rest while I was looking around with my hands up high like I have achieved a life goal. I had another look around and saw a stream of water sparkling like diamonds and full of all sorts underwater wildlife but my favorite was the turtles. Everything looked amazing from up here, it was like heaven.


 We stood up and started walking back down. While we were walking down I could feel in the afternoon breeze. After a while it started to get colder and colder until it was freezing. My friend had gone really pale and was starting to shiver. I grabbed on to her and we ran down the mountain BANG. 

 We fell down and instead of the taste of victory it was the taste of grossness and rock but the rock did kind of taste like rock salt so I wasn't really bothered about that but everything else tasted horrible. It was like puking and then eating your puke. 

We got up and got frightened by the wolves howling. We were walking again but we here a bark and then several barks. Then it went dead silent. We stopped and looked around and for some reason my friend started sniffing and said “ they're close but we still need to run”. We ran away and for some reason instead of looking back my friend kept on trying to smell them out instead of looking I guess that’s just how she does that. Suddenly she told me to watch out, I looked in front of me CHOMP.

What causes tides

In class every week we have to make either an infographic or a story map. This week we had to make an infographic. An infographic is a thing about something that has writing diagrams labels and all sorts of way to display information. We had to do one on what causes tides.

My powtoon

In class we were looking at our values of the school and a new tool called powtoon. When We used this at first it was just a play around but then we had to do an actual powtoon. While we did this we had no help because our teacher didn't know what she was doing  and none of us either. This was really fun anyway because it was our first time using this.

Te Wiki O Te Reo Maori

For Te Wiki O Te Reo Maori We had to go onto a google doc and look and study the maori history. and then choose 3 or 4 tasks to do. I enjoyed this because we got learn more about the Maori culture and what it is all about.

Magnificent Maths Strategie

In class we were learning about long division. Long division is another way for the standard form  in division. This was really hard because sometimes you had super hard problems and sometimes you had easier questions. 

See you in the cosmos

In class our class novel is See you in the cosmos and everyday we will read some and every week we will get a task. This is not that hard but it is really fun it's like doing it with our old book fish in a tree.

we finally finished the book it took us a whole term but it worked. It was such a good book a trash ending. Either way you should read this book Because it is the best but ending because he doesn't even meet the head of SIV Space Lander Sivet it's so bad. In the holidays there is a chance that I might make a different ending if i'm that board

Group writing

In class Mrs Lee gave us a character a setting a problem and we had to write about these and find a solution.We got a woodpecker who was at a ocean and the problem was a shark.We wrote that Mr. Woodpecker would get swooped by a flood to the ocean were his dad got eaten and then he gets eaten and they both peck their way out of the stomach.

In class we have to go into a shared slideshow and make a information web about what our story was about. It is not that hard once you start doing every week.

Winter the best season ever

One day Mr Norman came into our class for the day and he asked us what our favorite season was and why. He wrote down all the seasons and asked us some questions then he said 

"pick your favorite season and go write why it is your favorite"

and that is how I ended up with this piece of writing. It was kind of hard but I did finish it.

Her is my writing 

Do you like winter? Is it your favorite season? If it isn’t what season do you
like? Anyways if you like winter then I agree with you and you should also
read this. As it is a story that you will like and should read. 

Winter has a lot of snow when it is a snowy day. It is amazing seeing all of it
and playing with it. When it snows you can go make an army of snowmen and
hide behind them while having snowball fights. Or if you don’t like the snow
you don’t have to play with it. Instead, you can go ice skating on frozen
lakes with your friends and family.

When it is winter you can also just stay inside and relax. You can make a
hot chocolate and sit next to a fire if you have one. Or even if it is a super hot
day winter still gives the day a nice breeze. It can make you go from stinking
hot to nice and cool.

Winter also has really fun sports that you can play, like soccer, rugby,
hockey and more. I like these because you can play all of them and not
just one at a time and then wait for next year - it’s kind of like multi tasking!
An example of this is that you can play rugby and have so much fun. 

In winter it is really cold, and since it is really cold it can get me sick and
I won’t have to go to school. One example of this is I could be taking my
dog on a walk and I could get a cold, and so I then won’t have to go to
school and can stay home in bed all day.

This concludes that winter is the best and why I love it. 

My week 5 shared slideshow

in class for our shared slideshow we made a infographic and learned about them.this was really hard at the start because I didn't really get it until I watched the video properly. I choose to make a mini flowchart about how hurricanes are made and then put in some facts. Here is my slideshow.

My eucharist symbol

In we had to make symbols about the eucharist. When we did this we had to draw a symbol and write a verse from the bible that is related to the eucharist. What is the eucharist you ask well you have to get your first holy communion for this and that is where you will learn about the eucharist but I can just tell you. So this is when you get the bread and wine also called the body and blood of Jesus which you eat to be part of the church and be closer to god. I chose these symbols because you use the wheat to make the bread and the grapes to make the wine/grape juice. 

My shared slideshow

In class at reading we read our passage and then we make a mindmup on it and then comment on each other's work. this is really fun to do and I enjoy it alot. if you want to do this get a couple of people and just make mind maps on something and then share your work and comment what you liked about theirs and something that they can work on.

How to find fractions

WALT to use add/sub to work out fractions of a set 

In class we have been learning about fractions and some strategies on how to use them.After we had to make this. a DLO about a strategie that you can use to solve a fraction. This was really hard explaining how you can do this in my steps and if you think it's easy you try it because it is super hard. So  I hope that this tells you something about fractions and you have learnt something.

The sacraments of initiation

In class we were learning about sacraments about initiation. We had to go onto a site and find some info. Anyway here is my post I hope you enjoy.

Psalm Poster

In class we made a Psalm Poster this time. These are my 2 Psalms and I like them. My first one I think is better because it has more but yeah I just like my first one ( they are named in the bottom corner). if you want to know how to do this it will be in the poster.

Amazing Apostrophes

In our class we were learning about apostrophes. We had to watch a video and learn about them ourselves first. Then we had to do some sheets just to see if we learnt anything. This was really fun compared to all the other stuff that we did and I really liked doing this. I suggest that you do something with apostrophes because they are really fun to use.

T3 Psalms

In class at prayer time Mrs Lee introduced to us something called praying with the Psalms. This is were you the teacher puts a Psalm on the TV and we have to copy one or to verses that really stood out to you. After that she would pick a couple of people to share their verse and why they picked that. All of us enjoyed this and now we had to make this slideshow with all the verses that we put in on our weekly Psalm Doc and make them in to mini Psalms. If you want to do this just get some Psalms and write down what verse or verses stood out to you.

Llama Drama

In our class we were making Llamas.

4 paint your Llama's fur on with BLACK and WHITE

5 go over your Llama's face with pastol.

After we did our Llama our teacher told us that we had to make a random story about them but it had to have Llama's, paragraphs and we had to make it engaging. I really enjoyed my writing because we were able to write about anything but we just had to put those three things in. Something that was really hard for me was putting those three things into my writing and not using the same words to many times. This was super fun I hope we could do something like this again.

The Crazy Party King Derpy Llama Guy 

Hi. I’m Crazy Party King Derpy Llama Guy and this is my story about how I
became the most crazy party king ever.

It all started when I was walking down a road like a normal llama. I saw a sign
saying:

Tonight is the biggest party ever!

Whoever is the craziest gets bragging rights,

a crown and the name of crazy party king.

Come to 21 Banana Street and be

the craziest person ever!!!’

When I saw this I quickly went home put my fake derpy face on and ran down to
the address. 

After all that running I finally got there and there were a lot of people trying to be
  the crazy party king. All of a sudden there was a loud noise. It sounded like a
robot voice. 

“To be the crazy party king you have to first dance and knock everyone off.”

 Out of nowhere a big dance platform came up and it had stairs to get on
but no walls to keep you on. Soon half of the group of people got on and
started dancing and pushing people off. Then a big as guy tried to knock me off.
I moved to the side. He came rushing at me and went flying off.
After he went flying off I laughed at him and turned around.
But when I turned around everyone was looking at me and started ramming at me.
Then at that flash of a moment I jumped. higher than I have ever jumped before.
I stayed up there like I was in space. I landed and everyone cheered.
But that all stopped when the voice came again and asked me, 

“What is your name” 

 “Derpy Llama Guy” I say.

 But after I say that I look at the other side and see who I'm going against.
He’s big, He looks kind of strong, he is my arch nemesis,
my twin brother Derpy Llama Dude. We stare each other down until the

The final Match comes and the robot says 

“pin the Tail and you shall win”. 

Suddenly a whole bunch of pins came down and my brother
tried to put a pin in my tail so I kept on trying to do it to him.
After that we had one of those battles were you put two
swords together and try to push it at the other but with the smallest pins ever.
But I beat my brother but it was too much for me to put a tack into my brother
so I didn’t do it and he got up and tried walking away but the robot didn’t let us.
So I said to him 

“you do it to me”

 but he disagreed and says for me to do it so I do and I become the Crazy
Party King Derpy Llama Guy, get my crown (which is actually a party) and
celebrate. And that's the story about how I become the
Crazy Party King Derpy Llama Guy.
